Simon Jones becomes Partner
Thursday, December 1, 2011
Effective 1 December 2011, Simon Jones became a Partner of Cognis Capital LLP after joining the firm as Investment Director in 2009. Simon commented “I am delighted at this opportunity to join the partnership and continue to develop the strong reputation that Cognis has built in the credit and distressed space.
“The current macro environment has resulted in a prime opportunity to generate attractive returns in European subordinated, stressed and distressed corporate debt. There are a raft of debt securities in solid companies yielding double digit cash interest, with the potential of additional capital gains as global capital movements have depressed risk asset prices across the board irrespective of underlying credit strength.
“The Cognis team has operated in these credit markets for more than a decade and this experience is critical in selecting individual securities in the volatile environment we will inevitably face over the next few years.”
Cognis CEO, Myra Tabor added “The foundation of our business is fundamental credit assessment and Simon’s skill set and background is a perfect complement to our investment team.”
Simon was formerly a founding member of Talbot Hughes McKillop, a specialist firm set up in 2001 in order to meet the increasing complexity of turnarounds and restructurings resulting from the advent of the European high yield market in 1997 and the proliferation of loan funds.
