Cognis Capital hires ex Barclays Capital Credit Research Head
Monday, January 9, 2012
Effective 9 January 2011, Robert Jones has joined Cognis Capital as an Investment Director.
Robert was formerly a Managing Director and Head of European Fundamental Credit Research at Barclays Capital, where he has spent the past 12 years, responsible for the analysis of companies and securities across the High Yield, Leveraged Loan and Distressed markets in Europe.
Robert commented “I am delighted at this opportunity to join Cognis. I feel the current credit market and regulatory environment lends itself to significant opportunities for credit focused funds. In joining Cognis I have chosen a firm with a strong and deserved reputation built in the credit and distressed space.”
“I believe the current macro environment together with structural changes occurring in the banking market has resulted in a unique opportunity for credit focused funds. There are a multitude of debt securities that are currently being mis-priced in the market as beta factors over-ride all else. I believe that my credit skill set and experience in the European high yield debt market together with Cognis’ existing deep-seated knowledge and practices focusing on bottom-up alpha analysis of companies offers the opportunity to generate attractive returns over the medium term.”
Cognis CEO, Myra Tabor added ‘Robert, having been involved from the very start of the European High Yield market, has invaluable experience of the changing corporate structures, credit instruments, bond market dynamics and importantly credit cycles and individual corporate history throughout such cycles. The industry awards and the recognition he has gained for his work speaks for itself and we are delighted that he has joined us here at Cognis’.
